Spirits Queer, Spirits True: Roots and Spirits Queer, Spirits True: Blooms
Born from an invitation extended by Antanas Vainius — who has spent decades observing, practicing, and bearing witness to what is known as the Gay Spirituality Movement — this anthology draws together voices from across the GBTQ+ spectrum: gay and queer men, trans and non-binary people, elders and seekers, artists and mystics, scholars and poets. They range across generation, race, religious tradition, and geography. They write from personal history and world history, from the body and the soul.
What they share is this: a conviction that queer experience opens onto something vast.
These eighty-some writers and artists offer essays, poems, stories, images, and visions — the full interior life in all its forms. Together they map the deep roots of a spirituality that has no single name but many sources: indigenous, Sufi, Christian, earth-based, transpersonal, and beyond.
This is a two-volume anthology.
